SVUMMO - brand description
UMMO is a lighting brand from the Polish coast that combines modern craftsmanship with original design. We create lamps with minimalist aesthetics that harmoniously complement domestic, commercial, as well as high-humidity spaces. We draw inspiration from the modernist heritage of Gdynia, which is reflected in the curved forms of our designs. We operate with passion, ensuring that high standards of quality and design go hand in hand with accessibility and attractive pricing.

Our mission is to create lamps that are not only a source of light, but also a source of inspiration for creating unique spaces. We strive for the highest quality at an affordable price, working with passion and craftsmanship. We combine modernist functionality with modern aesthetics. We manufacture locally in our Gdynia studio, supporting both domestic suppliers and the environment. We create to order, so that our products perfectly meet the needs of future owners. We want to design lamps that will illuminate the interiors and everyday life of our recipients, bringing unique character and minimalist elegance to them.
History of the creation of UMMO
On the Polish coast, in the modernist city of Gdynia, the UMMO brand was founded in 2018 - out of a passion for creating unique lamps in a minimalist spirit. Our story began with a visit to the famous Salone del Mobile design fair in Milan, where we became enthralled with design based on a variety of spherical forms. Upon our return, we combined these inspirations with the modernist aesthetic that has shaped us as designers and residents of Gdynia. We want to create lamps that illuminate the interiors and everyday life of our clients, bringing unique character and minimalist elegance to them.
Hence our name: UMMO, meaning unique, minimalist and modernist lighting.
Gdynia: the modernist heart of Poland
Located on the Polish coast, Gdynia is a city that combines modernity with history in an unusual way. As one of the best examples of modernism in Poland, it impresses with both its architecture and unique spatial plan - its center opens up to the sea, creating harmony between urban planning and nature.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Gdynia developed dynamically as a port and trade center, and today it is a symbol of elegance and innovation. Not only does the heart of interwar modernism beat here, but also of contemporary Polish design.
Walking around Gdynia, we can admire iconic buildings such as the luxurious tenements on Świętojańska Street, modernized buildings along the waterfront or unique buildings that reflect the spirit of the era, referring to the functionalist ideas of Le Corbusier.
Modern Gdynia lives in the present while drawing on the heritage of the past. History coexists here with modern urban planning solutions, while spacious promenades and post-shipyard office buildings pulsate with the energy of creative industries and innovative design.
This is a city that constantly delights - and for us remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration in the creative process.
Origins
The UMMO brand was born out of a need to create something unique in the world of lamps. Observing the market, we noticed how many available models focused only on function, neglecting the aspect of aesthetics and its impact on the space. In turn, those that were stunning in design were often unaffordable. We decided to fill this gap by designing lighting that would combine top-quality craftsmanship and modern design with affordable prices. As a result, our lamps become more than just a source of light - they are small works of functional art that brighten up both the space and the daily lives of our customers.
Creation process
Our lamps are created with exceptional attention to detail. We watch over every stage - from the concept and first sketches to the final realization. We start with research, mock-ups and prototypes, which we subject to thorough testing. We polish each model to perfection, taking care of quality, safety and comfort. We work with local artisans, whose skills and passion are the foundation of our production - thanks to them, each lamp is a small work of functional art.
