The SUPURU W lamp combines minimalist aesthetics with subtle references to Japanese tradition. The name Supuru is a phonetic metaphor for silence and light - which is what a well-designed luminaire creates. Two dome-shaped lampshades sit one above the other on a slender stem. Its form is reminiscent of the classic lanterns that adorn temple alleys. This harmonious composition combines simplicity of form with deep roots in culture.
The name "SUPURU" can be interpreted as a phonetic reference to the Japanese word "subaru," which means "unification" or "gathering." This reference emphasizes the idea of harmony and unity conveyed by the lamp's design.
Lamp components and functionality
The body of the lamp is made of metal in colors from the UMMO palette (white RAL 9003, black RAL 9005, yellow RAL 1016, melon RAL 1028, pink RAL 3014, red-orange RAL 2002, burgundy RAL 3004, navy blue RAL 5003, blue RAL 5014, olive RAL 6013, beige), which gives it an elegant and universal character. Designed by
Michał Markiewicz
Designer, interior architect, co-founder and main creator of the UMMO Lighting brand. He comes from Gdansk, Poland, where he developed a passion for design from an early age. Even as a child he created lamps from available materials, rearranging lampshades and experimenting with form. Over time, he naturally gravitated towards interior design and industrial design, combining functionality with aesthetics in his own way.
He graduated with a degree in Interior Design, and also gained experience as a jewelry and furniture designer. Today he focuses on lighting, which he treats as “jewelry of the interior.” - It not only complements the space, but becomes its focal point. He draws inspiration from everyday life: forms, textures and shapes present in the environment.
His creative process involves a journey from sketch to prototype and final product, with functionality being paramount - each lamp must not only catch the eye, but also shine well. Michał's designs are dominated by recyclable materials: metal, glass, wood. UMMO's style is recognizable for its distinctive form and color, as well as its attention to quality and timelessness.
For Michał, local production and sustainable design are particularly important to minimize environmental impact and promote conscious design. UMMO Lighting is a brand that, through his vision, combines aesthetics with responsibility and craftsmanship with modernity.
