The PLAAT collection with the poet and writer Sylvia Plath is certainly connected by a glass shade :) The milky white sphere, characteristic of UMMO lamps, is created to discover the poetry of light. The metal tubes are cut by a thin disk which, like an umbrella, covers a large lampshade in an elegant cap. It is the metal disk that distinguishes PLAAT ceiling lamps, available in two colors: black and white. UMMO lighting is manually assembled from high-quality components in our studio in Gdynia. With light we are for Mr. PLAAT :)

The PLAAT Premium series is the basic models in brass. Brass elements are ground by us and specially protected against discoloration. PLAAT hanging lamps are available with a black or white hat and disc. We attach gloves to brass lamps, thanks to which there will be no chemical reaction during assembly. As you can see, we are noble with light :)

Designed by

Michał Markiewicz

Designer, interior architect, co-founder and main creator of the UMMO Lighting brand. He comes from Gdansk, Poland, where he developed a passion for design from an early age. Even as a child he created lamps from available materials, rearranging lampshades and experimenting with form. Over time, he naturally gravitated towards interior design and industrial design, combining functionality with aesthetics in his own way.

He graduated with a degree in Interior Design, and also gained experience as a jewelry and furniture designer. Today he focuses on lighting, which he treats as “jewelry of the interior.” - It not only complements the space, but becomes its focal point. He draws inspiration from everyday life: forms, textures and shapes present in the environment.

His creative process involves a journey from sketch to prototype and final product, with functionality being paramount - each lamp must not only catch the eye, but also shine well. Michał's designs are dominated by recyclable materials: metal, glass, wood. UMMO's style is recognizable for its distinctive form and color, as well as its attention to quality and timelessness.

For Michał, local production and sustainable design are particularly important to minimize environmental impact and promote conscious design. UMMO Lighting is a brand that, through his vision, combines aesthetics with responsibility and craftsmanship with modernity.
