The PLAAT collection with the poet and writer Sylvia Plath is certainly connected by a glass lampshade :) The milky sphere, characteristic of UMMO lamps, is created to discover the poetry of light. The metal tubes are cut by a thin disk which covers a large lampshade. It looks just like an umbrella :) The metal disk, that distinguishes the PLAAT line, appearing in two colors: black and white or black and white with gold elements. Depending on the size of the tube, you can find in the series hanging lamps, ceiling lamps, plafonds as well as table lamp. UMMO lighting is manually assembled from high quality components in our studio in Gdynia. PLAAT, not a plate :)

Designed by
Michał Markiewicz
Designer, interior architect, co-founder and main creator of the UMMO Lighting brand. He comes from Gdansk, Poland, where he developed a passion for design from an early age. Even as a child he created lamps from available materials, rearranging lampshades and experimenting with form. Over time, he naturally gravitated towards interior design and industrial design, combining functionality with aesthetics in his own way.
He graduated with a degree in Interior Design, and also gained experience as a jewelry and furniture designer. Today he focuses on lighting, which he treats as “jewelry of the interior.” - It not only complements the space, but becomes its focal point. He draws inspiration from everyday life: forms, textures and shapes present in the environment.
His creative process involves a journey from sketch to prototype and final product, with functionality being paramount - each lamp must not only catch the eye, but also shine well. Michał's designs are dominated by recyclable materials: metal, glass, wood. UMMO's style is recognizable for its distinctive form and color, as well as its attention to quality and timelessness.
For Michał, local production and sustainable design are particularly important to minimize environmental impact and promote conscious design. UMMO Lighting is a brand that, through his vision, combines aesthetics with responsibility and craftsmanship with modernity.
