The MALUMI A acoustic lamp is a combination of applied art, functional lighting, and the deliberate shaping of interior acoustics. Its name, inspired by the word “malumi,” which means “sailor” in Tamil, evokes travel, discovery, and the search for new forms. The lamp’s design draws on the Memphis movement, known for its bold approach to color, geometry, and form, while maintaining modernist simplicity and functionality.

MALUMI A Acoustic features the collection’s signature flat-oval, geometric shade, whose form was designed to maintain a balance between proportion and expressiveness. In this version, the classic character of the geometric form is enhanced with an acoustic function. The use of acoustic felt allows the lamp’s decorative form to be combined with a solution that promotes acoustic comfort in the interior.

MALUMI A Acoustic was designed as a pendant lamp with a compact, horizontal form. Its elongated shape and increased width of 7.2 cm create a more visually expansive form while retaining the lightness characteristic of the collection. The burgundy shade Purple Red #139 lends the lamp a deep, elegant character and enhances its decorative appeal.

The lamp’s body is made of acoustic felt and aluminum. The lamp is suspended from two 145-cm-long fabric straps, which emphasize its horizontal, graphic form. Additionally, a 145-cm-long polyester-braided cable is used, providing a practical connection between the fixture and the electrical installation.

An integral part of the design is a burgundy metal ceiling cover measuring 60.3 cm in length. Its color has been matched to the lamp’s body, ensuring that all elements form a cohesive, uniform composition.

The lamp is 80 cm long, 7.2 cm wide, and 35 cm high. The total length of the suspension is 180 cm. Thanks to these proportions, the MALUMI A Acoustic can be used both as a single fixture above a table or island and as part of a larger lighting composition.
