Its name, inspired by the word “malumi,” which means “sailor” in Tamil, evokes travel, discovery, and the search for new forms. The lamp’s design draws on the Memphis movement, known for its bold approach to color, geometry, and form, while maintaining modernist simplicity and functionality.
