RIFLO W A Steel is a wall sconce whose form draws attention with its subtle geometry and balanced combination of materials. The flattened, oval silhouette of the fixture evokes modernist architecture, in which simplicity of form and functionality play a key role. Inspiration drawn from the Bauhaus aesthetic and 1930s modernism lends the lamp a timeless character, while the steel finish emphasizes its elegant, architectural expression.
The most distinctive feature of this model is the graphite-colored shade made of grooved glass, complemented by a decorative steel-colored element. The regular grooves introduce a subtle rhythm and lend depth to the surface, while gently diffusing the light. The transparent structure of the glass ensures the fixture retains a sense of visual lightness, while the metal details highlight its precisely designed form. The name RIFLO can be interpreted as a phonetic adaptation of the English word “riffle,” meaning delicate grooves or embossments. Designed by
Michał Markiewicz
Designer, interior architect, co-founder and main creator of the UMMO Lighting brand. He comes from Gdansk, Poland, where he developed a passion for design from an early age. Even as a child he created lamps from available materials, rearranging lampshades and experimenting with form. Over time, he naturally gravitated towards interior design and industrial design, combining functionality with aesthetics in his own way.
He graduated with a degree in Interior Design, and also gained experience as a jewelry and furniture designer. Today he focuses on lighting, which he treats as “jewelry of the interior.” - It not only complements the space, but becomes its focal point. He draws inspiration from everyday life: forms, textures and shapes present in the environment.
His creative process involves a journey from sketch to prototype and final product, with functionality being paramount - each lamp must not only catch the eye, but also shine well. Michał's designs are dominated by recyclable materials: metal, glass, wood. UMMO's style is recognizable for its distinctive form and color, as well as its attention to quality and timelessness.
For Michał, local production and sustainable design are particularly important to minimize environmental impact and promote conscious design. UMMO Lighting is a brand that, through his vision, combines aesthetics with responsibility and craftsmanship with modernity.
