RIFLO W C Steel is a wall sconce that combines the essence of modernist architecture with the functionality of contemporary lighting. Its slender, elongated form draws on the geometric principles of modernism and the Bauhaus aesthetic, in which simplicity, clarity of composition, and utility formed the foundation of the design. The steel finish emphasizes the fixture’s architectural character, giving it an elegant and timeless look.
A distinctive feature of the lamp is its graphite-colored, satin-finished, vertically grooved glass shade, complemented by a decorative steel-colored detail. The regular grooves introduce a subtle rhythm, giving the surface depth and creating an interesting interplay of light and shadow. The transparent glass softens the austerity of the metal structure, introducing visual lightness and a contemporary touch. An additional feature that sets the RIFLO W C model apart is its integrated, adjustable LED reflector, which expands the decorative fixture’s functionality to include the ability to precisely direct the light.
The name RIFLO can be interpreted as a combination of associations with the English words “riffle,” meaning grooving or embossing, and “flow,” referring to movement. This combination reflects both the structure of the grooved glass and the fluidity of the composition. Designed by
Michał Markiewicz
Designer, interior architect, co-founder and main creator of the UMMO Lighting brand. He comes from Gdansk, Poland, where he developed a passion for design from an early age. Even as a child he created lamps from available materials, rearranging lampshades and experimenting with form. Over time, he naturally gravitated towards interior design and industrial design, combining functionality with aesthetics in his own way.
He graduated with a degree in Interior Design, and also gained experience as a jewelry and furniture designer. Today he focuses on lighting, which he treats as “jewelry of the interior.” - It not only complements the space, but becomes its focal point. He draws inspiration from everyday life: forms, textures and shapes present in the environment.
His creative process involves a journey from sketch to prototype and final product, with functionality being paramount - each lamp must not only catch the eye, but also shine well. Michał's designs are dominated by recyclable materials: metal, glass, wood. UMMO's style is recognizable for its distinctive form and color, as well as its attention to quality and timelessness.
For Michał, local production and sustainable design are particularly important to minimize environmental impact and promote conscious design. UMMO Lighting is a brand that, through his vision, combines aesthetics with responsibility and craftsmanship with modernity.
